Karl Slovin is President of M West Holdings and managing principal of the Firm. Mr. Slovin is responsible for directing all business activities for M West, which currently operates one and a half million square feet of multi-family, office, industrial and retail property in four states. One of the three initial equity investors in M West Holdings, Mr. Slovin took control of day-to-day operations in 2003. Prior to that Mr. Slovin's company, Sparrow Realty successfully redeveloped multi-family properties in Los Angeles. Through careful asset acquisition and staff growth since 2003, Mr. Slovin has achieved vertical integration of the company and superior bottom line growth. As President of M West, Mr. Slovin oversees acquisitions, dispositions, asset management, financings, leasing, and legal matters pertaining to the company's portfolio. Mr. Slovin graduated Wesleyan University with High Honors. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their three children.
Bruce Slovin has served as founder and principal of Milan Properties and M West Holdings since 1991. He has over 50 years of experience in corporate mergers and acquisitions, finance and real estate investment. Mr. Slovin began investing in real estate in New York City and expanded the company portfolio into Florida, Texas, Minnesota, Nevada and California. From 1985 until 2000, Mr. Slovin was the President of MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings Inc. and Revlon Group, Inc. Mr. Slovin is currently a Director of Siga Technologies (NYSE:Siga) and Cantel Medical Corp. (NYSE: CMN). He is President of 1 Eleven Associates LLC as a private investor. He earned his B.A. in Economics from Cornell University in 1957 and attended the Columbia University School of Business. Mr. Slovin also received a J.D. in Corporate Law and Taxation from Harvard University Law School.
Mr. Slovin is currently Chairman Emeritus of the Center for Jewish History, Chairman of Yivo Institute of Jewish Research and board of director of various not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Slovin has been awarded with various honorary degrees due to his active role in a wide range of philanthropic endeavors.
Matthew Ellis currently runs the Acquisition & Capital Markets group at M West Holdings, LLC where he is responsible for the acquisition, disposition and financing of the firm's portfolio. Since joining M West, Mr. Ellis has successfully sourced property and debt opportunities. These efforts have resulted in the firm closing on seven off-market transactions in 30 months, and the successful refinancing of its New York and Texas holdings.
Prior to joining M West in early 2009, Mr. Ellis worked for Wachovia Securities for eight years in structured finance. As head of Wachovia’s multi-family capital group for the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Ellis made equity investments in multi-family assets co-owned by Wachovia and local operators. Mr. Ellis originated over $5 billon in first mortgage, bridge, mezzanine, preferred equity and equity solutions while at the bank. Mr. Ellis received a B.S. in Geography & Economics and a Masters in Economics & Finance from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Vlady Sheynin is a Director of Asset Management for M West Holdings and is responsible for the supervision of operations of the company’s asset management portfolio including multifamily, commercial and mix-use properties. Mr. Sheynin oversees properties located in California, Texas, Florida and New York and has over 18 years of hands-on experience in managing multifamily and commercial assets of varying investment criteria and business objectives.
Prior to joining M West Holdings, Mr. Sheynin served as Vice President of Operations at Urban Pacific Group of Companies. Before joining Urban Pacific, Mr. Sheynin has held various real estate positions within the Southern California real estate community and has been directly involved with over $2 billion in acquisitions, development and operations of residential and commercial assets in major metropolitan markets in the US. His experience and expertise were recognized by such real estate giants as Kaufman and Broad and Sun America Companies.
Mr. Sheynin attended the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, where he achieved a dual major in Finance and Real Estate Development. Mr. Sheynin is an active member and participant in ULI, NMHC, SCANPH and holds a current California Real Estate License.
Ms. Yadegar is the Director of Finance at M West Holdings. Ms. Yadegar has worked as Chief Financial Officer and Controller for several real estate investment management and development companies and family offices. She was formerly a senior auditor as KPMG Peat Marwick. She holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Accounting from University of Southern California and her Masters in Business Administration, finance emphasis, from London Business School. Ms. Yadegar was awarded the Real Estate Entrepreneur's Scholarship. She has been involved with the Urban Land Institute, International Council of Shopping Centers, and Women in Commercial Real Estate.
Stephanie Acre is the Property Accountant for the residential portfolio at M West Holdings. She is responsible for the monthly investor reporting as well as supervising the accounts receivable and accounts payable personnel. Stephanie has over 25 years of experience working for real estate development and property management companies. Prior to joining M West, she held positions at major property management companies such as General Growth, Jones Lang LaSalle and Douglas Emmett & Company. She received her education at University of California – Los Angeles majoring in Business Economics. She also completed the Certification in Construction Management program at University of California – Los Angeles.
Greg Karr is the Senior Construction Manager who is in charge of all construction projects throughout the portfolio. He oversees all capital improvement and development projects as well as assists in the due diligence for new properties. Prior to joining Polaris, Greg worked for the CIM Group for 7 years running all tenant improvement projects in the Southern California region. He has experience building out all commercial product types including retail, office, medical, and restaurant as well as being involved with building renovations and acquisitions. Greg is a Southern California native who has a bachelors and masters degree from UCLA. He currently resides in Studio City with his family.
As Operations Manager at M West Holdings, Jessica enhances executive’s effectiveness by providing senior management support and managing the daily operations of the firm. Before joining the M West team, Jessica was Property Manager and Executive Assistant to the President of Rodeo Realty, Inc. Jessica’s experience is comprised of managing a portfolio of 110,000 sqft consisting of over 200 tenants; including Multi-Family and Commercial Properties. Jessica graduated from California State University Northridge, where she majored in Business Marketing with a minor in Business Management. Ms. Linder also holds her California Real Estate Salesperson License.
As Assistant Asset Manager of M West, Mr. Duey works closely with the Asset Manager on all leasing and construction activities for all properties in the Company’s portfolio. He coordinates insurance and leasing activity for every state for corporate headquarters and works with the Company’s individual leasing teams and local counsel to secure the completion of new deals. In addition, he manages two of the firm's class A office buildings, cumulatively consisting of 120,000 sq.ft., in Los Angeles, CA. Jonathan graduated from the University of Virginia, where he obtained his B.S. in Architecture. Prior to joining M West Jonathan worked professionally in Architecture Design and also in non-profit property and asset management. Mr. Duey also holds a California Real Estate Brokerage License, is a California Registered Architect, and LEED AP BD+C certified.
Sue Ellen Sexton currently manages the M West Holdings, LLC portfolio in Florida where she is responsible for a diverse assemblage of properties. Immediately prior to joining M West, Ms Sexton managed a 19-story Class A building in Tampa’s CBD owned by a private family trust. Ms Sexton has experience working directly for ownership in addition to extensive third party management through such companies as CB Richard Ellis and Taylor & Mathis. Ms Sexton completed the RPA designation in 2009. She also holds a Florida Real Estate License. Ms Sexton attended Marshall University.
Rebecca, Senior Regional Property Manager for Polaris Property Management, contributing more than twenty-one years of operations experience in the multi-family industry and has worked for some of the largest property management firms in Los Angeles, from 3rd party management to owner managed. Rebecca has managed portfolio’s consisting of as many as 2,000 units in the Southern California market alone. Rebecca’s strengths include: tenant relations, team-building, new property acquisitions, Yardi Voyager implementation, organizational design, marketing and budget forecasting. Rebecca deploys her broad base of knowledge to maximize returns and streamline company operations. Rebecca comes from a family that values service and a strong work ethic. A mother of two, residing in Burbank.
Jackie Ocampo serves as the Regional Assistant for Polaris Property Management. Jackie works alongside Rebecca Tipton and her responsibilities are to assist with all operations for the multi-family portfolio. Prior to joining Polaris, Jackie spent the previous six years with IMT Residential serving as a Multisite Manager and assisting in the administrative operations and accounts receivable on 2,200 units. Jackie aspires to grow her career in the multifamily and commercial industry. She currently lives in Valley Village, CA. with her family.
Hugo Ceja is the Regional Maintenance Supervisor for Polaris Property Management. Hugo oversees and supervises all unit upgrades and maintenance in the Los Angeles Multifamily Portfolio. Ensures all properties are maintained, adheres to company quality standards, while controlling operating expenses. Supervises all maintenance personnel. Maintains resident satisfaction and promotes excellent Landlord-Resident relations. Hugo holds his certification in Fair Housing, mold prevention and remediation procedures as well as HVAC Type III, and has over 20 year experience in the multi-family maintenance industry.
Lupe Cervantes is the Property Accountant for the company's Multifamily portfolio. She has over 7 years experience in real estate accounting. Before joining Polaris, she was a Staff Accountant for a portfolio of over 100 Multifamily residential properties located in Sherman Oaks. Lupe graduated from the University of Phoenix with a degree in Business Accounting. She currently lives in Granada Hills, CA with her fiancé.
As the Accounts Payable Specialist, Peter’s experience consists of working at Decron Properties Corp. in the accounting department managing a portfolio of more than 4,800 apartment units. Peter reviews all invoices for both the Commercial and Multi-Family portfolio to ensure appropriate documentation and approval. Peter handles all vendor inquiries and reconciles vendor statements to correct discrepancies. Peter graduated from California State University of Northridge with a degree in Business.
Steven Sapp serves as the Administrative Assistant for Polaris property management. His responsibilities are to assist with all operations for the multi-family and commercial portfolio. Prior to joining Polaris, Steven worked with IMT Residential serving as a Community Manager and assisting in the administrative operations. Steven aspires to grow his career in the multifamily and commercial industry. He currently lives in Sherman oaks, CA. with his family.
Emma Oganesyan assists with recruiting, hiring, and marketing for Polaris Property Management. Emma searches for top talent and ensures all social media outlets and websites are up to date. Ms. Oganesyan compiles weekly blogs and Press Releases for the Company. Having graduated from California State University, Northridge, with a degree in Journalism; Emma excels in writing and marketing. Emma has a strong background in real estate, previously working as a broker's assistant at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.
Alice Simitian assists Capital Project Management with the construction coordination, capital improvement projects, vendor management and compliance responsibilities for the Company’s Multi-family and Commercial portfolio. She is responsible for managing contracts, maintaining construction management database, and assisting with the daily duties of managing the ongoing construction projects. Alice has a vast amount of experience managing mixed use properties, previously working for Douglas Emmett as an Administrative Assistant for the Sherman Oaks Galleria, she assisted with managing a portfolio consisting of five office building and a retail center totaling over one million square feet of commercial space.
Hannah Lipman serves as records administrator at M West Holdings, where she supports senior management in maintaining all digital and physical assets relating to the firm’s portfolio of diversified properties in California, Florida, New York and Texas. Ms. Lipman creates and maintains retention schedules in order to ensure that the records are current, archived properly, and in accordance with the highest industry standards. She oversees and coordinates the firm’s off-site record storage and back-up as well. Ms. Lipman additionally assists with the daily operations of the firm. Hannah recently graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology.
